About Nathan
I am 46-year-old man, married with 3 school-aged children. I have ADHD+ (I think that’s what it’s called?) and was diagnosed late in life. Art has long been my refuge where I have the freedom to express myself in a way that feels authentic to me. Words can sometimes come hard for me and I fall short of successfully communicating my thoughts or feelings. I have been classically trained as an artist, but I prefer to work from my intuition, focused solely on the image that is developing in real time instead of trying to imitate or capture a specific landscape or person.
I am happy to share my process with others as I am coming to understand how important it has been for my soul. If you want classical training, I can facilitate that too, but like I said, it’s not something I gravitate to naturally and so I feel less confident in providing the best training possible in that area. (Perfectionism is a tricky thing to work around.).

My philosophy is that students learn and perform their best when they are provided with a supportive environment where exploration is encouraged, mistakes are opportunities for growth, and failure is a teacher not an enemy. I want the students to leave my class knowing (better) that they are capable, creative problem solvers that can be skilled with fine arts if they desire to be and put in the effort to do so.
