About Charlie
I am a second year Human Biology and Society major at UCLA who hopes to become an Orthopedic Surgeon one day. I am extremely passionate about medicine, as I am currently involved in a variety of clubs and volunteer roles in the medical field. I am most proud of my developing publication and research done on frailty in lung transplant patients, which I hope to publish soon. In my free time, I love to camp, play tennis, surf, or really do anything outdoors. I also am a sports fanatic who loves watching American football and basketball.

As a tutor, my approach focuses on creating a supportive and adaptable learning environment where students feel confident and develop critical thinking skills. I prioritize student-centered learning, tailoring my teaching methods to each student’s learning style, whether visual, auditory, or kinesthetic. My emphasis is on conceptual understanding rather than memorization, breaking down complex ideas into manageable parts and using real-world examples to make theory more applicable. I incorporate active learning strategies such as quizzes, problem-solving exercises, and collaborative discussions to engage students. In a typical lesson, we begin with a quick review, followed by a detailed explanation of key concepts, guided practice, independent exercises, and a wrap-up summarizing key takeaways. What sets me apart is my adaptability—customizing each session to the student’s specific needs—and my focus on fostering a growth mindset where mistakes are seen as opportunities for learning
