About Lucy
Hi! I'm a 3rd year Biochemistry student studying at Cardiff University and I am currently undergoing an industry placement at King's College London in the school of cancer and pharmaceutical sciences. I have developed a strong background in mathematics and chemistry through my studies and enjoy helping students build confidence in subjects they may find challenging.
My teaching approach is patient, encouraging, and personalised to each student's learning style. I believe that every student can succeed with the right support, so I break down complex topics into simple, manageable steps and use plenty of worked examples and practice questions to reinforce understanding. My aim is not only to improve grades but also to help students enjoy maths and feel confident tackling problems independently.

My lessons are aimed at GCSE and KS2 pupils, including those preparing for SATs. Whether your child needs help mastering the fundamentals, catching up in class, or gaining extra confidence before exams, I provide a supportive and positive learning environment where they can progress at their own pace.
As a university student studying a highly quantitative degree, I use maths every day and understand the importance of building strong foundations early. I am committed to making lessons engaging, enjoyable, and tailored to help each student achieve their full potential.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes long, although I am happy to adapt the length to suit the student's age and concentration level.

In my role as Lucy’s personal tutor at university, I have found her to be a highly diligent, motivated and committed student. She has also taken on the role of a student mentor, demonstrating her willingness to support others and share her knowledge in a patient and approachable manner. Lucy communicates clearly and confidently, and has a natural ability to explain concepts in a structured and accessible way, which are valuable qualities when supporting students with challenging subjects. Her strong academic background in Biochemistry, alongside her reliability and enthusiasm for helping others, makes her well-suited to tutoring. I am confident that she would provide students with a supportive and encouraging learning environment.
I taught Lucy and was always impressed by her conscientious attitude and strong work ethic. She approaches her work with care and consistency, and it’s clear that she genuinely wants to understand things properly and do her best.
She is patient, approachable, and easy to talk to, which allows her to build a positive and supportive rapport with those around her. These qualities would translate really well into tutoring, helping students feel comfortable asking questions and developing their confidence.
Lucy also has a clear and thoughtful way of explaining ideas. She is particularly good at breaking down more complex concepts into simpler, more manageable steps, making them much easier to understand. She communicates in a calm and structured way, which is especially valuable for students who may be struggling.
I am confident that Lucy would make an excellent tutor. She combines strong subject understanding with the right personal qualities to support and motivate students, and I would highly recommend her.View more recommendations
