About Amy
I knew as young as 5 years old that I wanted to be a teacher. I taught elementary at the beginning of my career before I moved to middle school. I have also worked as a small group math and literacy intervention teacher.
I have a Bachelor's degree from Peru State College in Elementary Education and a Master's defree from UNO in secondary education. I am certified to teach in NE K-6, math 5th-9th, social studies 5th-9th. I have been teaching and tutoring in the Omaha area for over 15 years. I have taught every grade K-8th.

When I start working with a new student I like to have my first session be one where I get to know the student and get a feel for their learning style, strengths, likes, dislikes, attitudes about learning, and areas for improvement.
I have worked with students ranging from kindergarten through high school. I have taught in both public and private schools in several Omaha Metro school districts. I tend to best fit with students in grades 4-9.
When you are looking for a tutor, make sure that they are someone that you can get along with and communicate with well. Someone may have a wealth of knowledge, but if you don't have the same learning styles or communication styles, they may not be a great tutor for you. I always recommend hiring a tutor who is a certified teacher, as they have content knowlede as well as training and education dealing with educational strategies, brain development, and pedogogy.
