About Olivia

As a recent Biochemistry graduate and a current medical school applicant with two acceptances, I bring a strong academic background and a deep understanding of science to my tutoring sessions. My experience includes tutoring General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Biochemistry at the college level, where I developed a clear, effective teaching style that helps students not only learn but truly understand the material. I take pride in creating a supportive and professional learning environment, and I am committed to helping you succeed in your studies. Whether you're struggling with difficult concepts or aiming for higher grades, I will work with you to build confidence and achieve your academic goals. In addition to my academic background, I bring a well-rounded perspective to tutoring. I played collegiate basketball for four years, which has taught me the value of hard work, perseverance, and discipline—traits that I incorporate into my teaching approach. Outside of academics, I also know how to ride a calf and rope a cow, and I believe in maintaining a balanced, fun, and positive attitude in everything I do. Let’s work together to build a strong foundation in chemistry and biology, and take your academic performance to the next level!

My teaching philosophy focuses on understanding why things happen in chemistry, not just how. Once you grasp the underlying mechanisms and principles, it becomes much easier to see how each topic fits into the larger picture. This deep, conceptual understanding will help you tackle problems with confidence and prepare you for future success in chemistry and beyond.

What You Can Expect:

- Clear explanations that break down complex concepts into manageable pieces

- A focus on problem-solving techniques and how to apply them

-Personalized tutoring sessions designed to meet your unique needs and learning style

-A patient, encouraging approach that builds confidence and understanding

Typical teaching outline:

1. Send me a list of concepts you are struggling with before the session
2. Together we will break down the mechanism or pathway you are struggling with outlining the key aspects of the process.
3. I will challenge you with practice problems
4. I will break down the details of the practice problem having you answer why things are occurring that way.
