About Mary
I have been studying the Spanish language for 9 years. I recently graduated from Keene State College with a dual degree in Spanish and Secondary Education. I have passed the ACTFL oral proficiency exam with a score of "intermediate high". Additionally, I studied and traveled abroad in Spain for 4 months in 2017.

Fostering a positive classroom environment will help students feel confident and accomplished, instead of fearful and uneasy. It is crucial that teachers do not only teach using one style of teaching, such as lecturing or solely doing textbook activities. Instead, teachers should develop different learning strategies to fit the needs of their students, so they feel confident in their abilities to succeed. The job of a teacher is not simply planning units and lessons; teachers are shaping students to become engaged and intelligent individuals. This task in itself encompasses much more than learning vocabulary and how to conjugate a verb. A teacher should be empowering students to reach full capabilities and persevere because learning can be challenging, but every student is capable of success. Through their success in their academic journey, they will continue to develop their identities and receive a quality education.
