About the lesson

Guitar, Bass Guitar & Music Theory Lessons | Online & In-Person

My name is Lawrence Jenner. I'm currently offering limited teaching slots to new online and face-to-face students from my home studio in Walthamstow. I can also travel to the student's home with prior discussion.

As a tutor, I aim to build a solid technique and theoretical understanding relevant to students’ interests. This allows the student a foundation of tools to further their creative and technical studies and harness their own sound and voice through music. I teach electric bass and music theory from beginner to advanced students within soul, pop, funk, hip-hop, jazz fusion, metal prog, and more.

I have over 8 years of private and institutional teaching experience. I have teach juniors at The British Institute of Modern Music in Brighton, degree-level students at The Waterbrear College of Music in Brighton and dozens of 6-16y/o in London. I also possess a BA(Hons) in music performance, and I'm certified with an enhanced CRB/DBS, Child Safeguarding & First Aid at Work.

If you’d like to work towards gaining accreditation, I have experience working with both Trinty & MTB Exams curriculum. I have a 100% pass rate with all my students.

Lessons are £50ph with block booking discounts.

Kind words from my students and parents of students:

"I've been taking lessons with Lawrence for just over a year now, and am really enjoying it. He's a really good guy, patient & encouraging."

"Been having lessons with Lawrence for about a year, and have made great progress that I’m really happy with!
Started out as a complete beginner and we dived into theory, technique all while playing the instrument and keeping things fun. Now at the point where I can play with friends which was my goal to begin with.
All the resources were shared with me online, and Lawrence would also send video demonstrations if I ever had any questions.
Fantastic teacher, would recommend whatever your level is."

"I have been studying with Lawrence for less than a year now. What I can say is he is an awesome musician and tutor. He helps you not only navigate the mechanics of playing but brings incredible ears and insight to the dynamics and emotion to allow you to perform challenging music authentically."

"My 14 year old says :
Good teacher
Fun lesson
Nice to chat to
Highly recommended

We have Double Bass Lessons with Lawrence. "

"Lawrence has been teaching our 11 year old acoustic guitar for a few months now and she’s progressed so much already given she was a complete beginner. He’s very patient and also lets her choose the songs which makes a huge difference to her staying engaged and wanting to practise. Really pleased we found him and couldn’t recommend him more highly!"
