About Avery
Honestly, teaching grammar foundations requires more than just textbooks. My approach relies on my CELTA training and 13 years of practice to make abstract concepts feel concrete. During our meetings, we examine writing skills, presentation techniques, and idioms that native speakers use daily. Students preparing for TOEFL or IELTS find my speaking practice exercises particularly effective for testing scenarios.
I include a weekly conversation recording session where we review your progress together. This method creates a clear feedback loop for your speaking cadence. I prioritize these recorded reviews because they help us identify subtle patterns in your delivery. Witnessing the moment a student gains clarity during a difficult grammar lesson is the most enjoyable part of my day.

Supporting newcomer families as they adjust to Canadian life, I often find myself reflecting on the unique challenges that language barriers present. Having navigated this field for 13 years, I have successfully guided 215 students through the complexities of professional and personal communication. My Master of Arts in French and CELTA qualification from McGill University provide a strong linguistic framework for teaching English grammar and writing to university applicants. These experiences allow me to connect with students from diverse backgrounds while maintaining a patient and encouraging atmosphere throughout our time together.
