About Yasmin
I am a Year 12 student currently studying at St.Olaves Grammar School in Orpington, taking History, Economics, Maths and Further Maths. I have just completed a Classical Civilisation AS. Having just completed my GCSEs, I have a deep understanding of the current specifications for English and Maths, being awarded Level 9s (A**) in both, as well as taking Further Maths GCSE. To study at Newstead, I had to enroll in the 11+, taking the Newstead, Bexley and Kent tests. Although having taken the test myself almost 6 years ago, I have recently tutored by 11 year old sister in the 11+ papers and she is now studying at Newstead Wood School.
During my time at Newstead, I had the oppertunity of helping a girl in year 8, whilst I was in year 10, in Maths, and then continued to help her throughout my time at Newstead. Since leaving the school, I have continued to assist her in developing her mathematical skills as she enters the final GCSE stages.
My tutoring method is simple and effective, whereby I will first assess the area that needs focuss, go through the theory and then correct any mistakes. At this stage I would then go through a couple of example questions, allowing the student to also try an example. After a oouple more questions I would then reassess how confident the student is feeling on the topic and maybe give them a few more questions that they can try later to ensure that any new theory learnt has been completely consolidated.
I loved studying my GCSEs and although I am enjoying the A-Level experience, I miss having 12 subjects to study. Because of this, I love tutoring in different subjects, keeping my knowledge alive, and helping others to see the beauty in learning when it is made easy too!
