We don't learn if we're not engaged, which is why I like to adopt an individualized approach to tutoring. During our first session, I like to get to know the person I am helping - such as their familiarity with the subject material, their learning style, and what they hope to get out of our time together. I also like to share some fun stuff about the topic, why it's important, and why I'm so excited to share my knowledge of it. From this interaction I develop a personalized lesson plan tailored to the student's individual needs and interests.
