About Roy
I’m a sophomore at the University of Texas at Austin majoring in Physics (Hook ’em!), and a researcher working on experimental and theoretical physics. I’m also an experienced educator, with years of tutoring students. I currently work as an undergraduate physics TA at UT, and over the years I’ve worked with many students who feel overwhelmed by math and physics courses. I understand that struggle, and I know how to make difficult concepts intuitive. My teaching philosophy is simple: real success comes from understanding, not memorization. Instead of just showing you how to “plug and chug,” I help you learn the ideas behind each problem so you can tackle new questions with confidence. You’ll learn the techniques, but also why they work. I offer math/physics tutoring sessions at an affordable price. Using the methods I developed and use myself to study, I’ll teach you the problem-solving habits and critical thinking strategies that helped me earn straight A’s at UT Austin in physics and engineering.

I tutor college level math and physics including: Calculus 1/2/3, Differential Equations, Vector Calculus, Linear Algebra, Complex Analysis; and Physics 1 (mechanics), Physics 2 (E&M), Physics 3 (Waves and optics), Modern Physics (Intro to QM and Special Relativity), Quantum Mechanics, Electrodynamics, Thermodynamics/Statistical Mechanics, and Classical Mechanics.
Classes are held online via Google Meet or Zoom.
A typical lesson is structured as follows:
First 20 minutes: We review how the student approach problems, identifying strengths, strategies, and misconceptions.
Next 30 minutes: I teach the underlying mathematical concepts, provide intuitive explanations, walk through key problem solving techniques, derivations of equations, etc.
Final 10 minutes: The student can ask questions about anything from the session.
I firmly believe every student can succeed in math and physics. Some people might be naturally good at it, others (like me) need training and strategy. The skills, methods, and mindset I developed will help guide you to reach your full potential in your classes!
