I started my lesson with Phillip to acquire more tools to write music at a deeper level. Phillip helped me reduce this huge gap I had between the music I imagined and my knowledge or skills. He is very knowledgeable, from medieval music through romanticism to twelve-tone serialism, he made me discover so many new ways to approach music writing. His teaching will benefit you whether you want to write for orchestra or for pop/rock, etc.

I have been having weekly composition lessons with Phillip for approximately 2–3 years, and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to develop their skills not just as a composer but to anyone looking to broaden their musical knowledge, skills, and creativity.

Phillip is an incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and supportive tutor who has helped me develop both my technical understanding of composition and my confidence in my own musical ideas. His lessons are always engaging, insightful, and tailored to my individual interests and goals.

Each lesson has a clear progression from the previous lesson, and we cover all aspects of being a composer, such as not just how to write music in Sibelius or Logic.

What I particularly appreciate is his ability to offer constructive feedback while helping me develop my own compositional style. He has a fantastic understanding of music and is always willing to explore different ideas and approaches.

I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Phillip over the past few years and have learned a tremendous amount from him. I would highly recommend him to both casual and professional composers. I look forward to continuing my lessons with Phillip for years to come!

Phillip has been teaching and preparing both my children for ABRSM Exam with success for the past 7 years. The lessons are structured in an excellent way, allowing strong progress. Phillip's knowledge and skills are the top. He listens and understands immediately the strengths and the weaknesses that need to be addressed. He is always supportive and patient, knowing exactly what to do to lead the child to achieve. He has an excellent relationship with his students who trust him. I would recommend him warmly. After trying other teachers before him, I would say that he is the best.

Philip has a wealth of musical knowledge and is a fantastic and patient teacher. I can't recommend him enough
