I'm currently a law student at King's College London and do online tutoring, but am also available for in-person tutoring if it's suitable! I love working with kids and helping them gain more confidence in their abilities, and am excellent at communicating with them effectively, ensuring that each student gets what they specifically need.

I tailor the lesson style to the student, subject matter, and the strategies that best work for them! However, generally I set homework each week which we go over at the beginning, and then move into the content for the class, which is typically varied between 1-3 activities. In the past, this included a weekly spelling test, matching 'games' for certain topics ie. conjunctions, writing activities, flashcards, and reading comprehension. These lessons last for 1 hour (younger students) to 1.5 hours (older students), but this can be arranged with each student to see what works best for them. My lessons are fun and creative, and really focus on working with each child's strengths to bolster their weaknesses.
To encourage more reading for younger students, we would select an appropriate book tailored to their interests, and they would read a number of chapters each week which we discuss at the start of every lesson. This was particularly effective as it helped solidify the idea that learning could be an enjoyable experience for them. My older students would use a similar method, except the discussion would be more technical, and mirrored the skill we were working on ie. analysis of the language features used to create tone/setting etc. if this was the focus of their homework/schoolwork.
I tutored for around two years while I was in high school, mostly with children aged 7-13, but I can definitely tutor older or younger ones! I did the International Baccalaureate and graduated with a 7 in Higher Level English Literature, so I'm also well versed in the course. I can also tutor IB HL History and SL/HL Film, as I achieved 7s in both subjects as well.
