About Amber
I have trained in tutoring techniques and have led a tutoring program at my college as student co-director. I understand tutoring on a deep level as I have had to give feedback and critiques on the tutors under me, gaining valuable insight into how to improve my own tutoring techniques. I once tutored a young high school student in chemistry who went from almost failing her class to an A in less than a semester. Being in my PhD program in Tumor Biology as well as holding a Bachelor's in Chemistry and a Master's in Bioinformatics along with my tutoring gives me confidence to tutor on a variety of topics and for students of many different skill levels and needs.

I have had training in a specialized type of tutoring which focuses on leading students to answers instead of just telling them right away. I have incorporated these principles into my tutoring even after leaving the program as I find that students who figure out the answer on their own are much more likely to remember and recall that information. I have the most experience tutoring in college level chemistry courses including introductory chemistry course and organic chemistry but have also tutored biology. I was appointed student co-director of my college tutoring program which gives me unique insights into the best ways to create lesson plans and connect with students.
