As a rising senior at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, I bring both a deep understanding of mathematics and the ability to explain it clearly. I am able to make advanced topics seem simplistic and with experience assisting in middle and high school classrooms, I know how to adapt lessons to different learning styles and help students build genuine confidence in their skills. I focus on breaking down complex math concepts into smaller, manageable steps while connecting them via intuitive reasoning. I encourage active participation by asking guiding questions and having students explain their thought process, which helps strengthen their understanding. I provide examples and give worksheets tailored towards a student's current needs and understanding of the specific topic. I also adjust my pace and approach based on each student’s needs, ensuring they feel confident before moving on to a separate topic. A Typical Lesson Plan would include the following: 1: Quick review of the previous topic to check understanding. 2: Intro Mini-lesson explaining the day’s concept with worked examples. 3: Guided practice where we solve example problems together, step by step. 4: Guided practice with worksheets meant to test what a student might already know (feedback/help provided) 5: Wrap-up summarizing key points and identifying areas for improvement. 6: Optional preview of the next concept to build confidence. In terms of what sets me apart as a tutor, as a current student at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, I have recent, first-hand experience with the exact challenges students face in learning math. My background as a teaching assistant for middle and high school classes gives me insight into different learning styles and how to adapt my explanations for each student. I combine a strong grasp of math concepts with patience and approachability, helping students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process. In terms of who the lessons are for, I teach middle school and high school students working on math from Algebra 1 through Calculus AB. This includes students preparing for class assessments, or those seeking to strengthen their foundation for future or even current math courses. Lessons can be adapted for review or targeted skill-building and can be tailored to meet a student's specific needs.
