About Fara
My teaching experiences are multiple, ranging from assistantship to lectures, private lessons of course but also popularization presentations, seminars, conferences, etc. I also followed several practical training courses in pedagogy as part of my doctoral studies at the university.
My background in mathematics is intimate, having dedicated the majority of the past 11 years to its in-depth study, first as a student and then as a researcher and teacher. I know how to pass exams successfully (and of course everyone in their own way) and I know beyond an evaluation system, how to go about truly assimilating a subject that must be mastered, or even developed and created.
I am a patient and passionate teacher, attentive to my students and respectful of their needs and desires. I am also rigorous and precise, mathematics require it! It is a work discipline that is transmitted, but with respect and care for the limits of each.

My courses are aimed at an audience of all levels, ranging from secondary to higher education, including preparatory courses and entrance exams. I also gladly work with any other learner profile.
To learn mathematics, whether applied or theoretical, it is essential to learn to identify what we do not understand (in a course, a concept, a type of problem, a given exercise, etc.). This is the heart of my learning method, which starts from the ability of students to precisely identify their difficulties and leads them to overcome them in an autonomous and rewarding way.
Listening to everyone's sensitivity, and through examples, contextualization, exercises or theoretical questions, I help my students to acquire perspective and (visual) intuition. necessary to be able to manipulate and apply the mathematical concepts studied with ease and creativity.
As part of an evaluation, I help students to perceive the expectations related to this evaluation and to meet them. Whatever the learning context, I help students develop a learning methodology adapted to the study of mathematics. This is based on questioning and understanding, rigor and precision, self-assessment and critical thinking, as opposed to teaching exclusively focused on the assimilation of systematic calculation methods.
We of course set the objectives of the course(s) together, evaluate the teaching material needed in relation to what is already available, etc.
My classes are given with mutual respect and are meant to be radically inclusive. I listen to any request or need, without judgment and without questioning this request or this need.

Outre ses compétences qui se passent de démonstration (docteure en math), Fara brille par sa pédagogie et ses qualités humaines (empathie, patience, humour...) qui rendent ses cours agréables. Petit plus : elle a un rapport sensible aux maths, loin des froides démonstrations qu'on aurait pu imaginer.
Fara arrive toujours à trouver un moyen de m'expliquer d'une manière différente qu'en classe, ce qui me permet de comprendre beaucoup plus facilement ! J'ai beaucoup apprécié ses cours :)
I met Fara while studying for a PGCE in Secondary Science Education. My main focus was teaching office Physics but I also taught Mathematics. Fara was doing her PhD at the time. She explained the complex mathematical concepts behind this in a very clear way. We went on to discuss how to communicate school level mathematical concepts in an accessible manner. I was very impressed by her ability to communicate mathematical concepts, of varying degrees of complexity, in a clear and concise manner. I recommend Fara to any potential students.
