About Peter
I have a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Exeter – my thesis was in the philosophy of mind. I have taught metaphysics, logic, and writing skills at that university, from where I also acquired teaching qualifications. I also peer review articles for journals, and have copy-edited for academic books. Prior to Exeter I taught A-level Philosophy and Religious Studies at a college in London for six years. My undergraduate degree was in Philosophy, and my Master's degree was in Continental Philosophy (Warwick University).

My teaching methodology adapts to what is being taught and to whom. But in most cases I will first provide lesson objectives and a plan/itinerary of how the lesson will proceed. In a class situation, I will usually outline the subject for ten minutes and then set questions for students to respond to in pairs. Thereafter we discuss each pair's answers with the whole class. In a one-to-one situation, I will often give the outline, then answer questions, and where none are forthcoming I will ask questions and discuss answers. But as I say, different subjects (and different students) sometimes require different teaching methods. My lessons are always very friendly and responsive at all levels.
