About Miki
Hi! I'm a student at Emma Willard School with a passion for helping others become confident writers, speakers, and critical thinkers. I'm a 2× State Debate Champion, Cambridge & Rotary Essay Award Winner, and the Founder of Girls Lead Now, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering girls through leadership, communication, and public speaking.
Beyond my own academic achievements, I'm actively involved in several youth-led nonprofits where I've gained extensive teaching, leadership, and communications experience. I currently serve as a Public Speaking Teacher and Assistant Marketing Director for CTeen Changemakers, Event Manager for CT Speech & Action, and Director of Outreach & Communications for the Financial Futures Foundation, where I previously worked as a Finance and AI Researcher. These roles have strengthened my ability to teach, mentor, organize educational programs, and communicate complex ideas in an engaging and accessible way.
I have firsthand experience teaching middle school students and love creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing in confidence. Whether we're working on essay writing, grammar, public speaking, or debate, my goal is to make learning engaging, personalized, and enjoyable.
As both a student and an educator, I understand the challenges of learning new skills. I combine proven strategies from debate, competitive writing, leadership, and public speaking with patience and encouragement, helping each student develop skills that extend far beyond the classroom. Watching students gain confidence in their abilities is the most rewarding part of teaching, and I'm excited to help every learner reach their full potential.

I believe the best learning happens when students feel supported, challenged, and confident enough to ask questions. My teaching style is interactive and personalized, with every lesson tailored to each student's goals, learning style, and pace. Rather than simply giving answers, I help students understand the reasoning behind concepts so they can apply their skills independently.
A typical lesson begins with reviewing previous material and identifying any areas of difficulty. From there, we work through new concepts together using guided practice, real examples, and interactive exercises. Every lesson ends with a brief review, personalized feedback, and optional practice to reinforce what we've learned. Lessons typically range from 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the student's goals, the material being covered, and their preferred learning pace.
As a Public Speaking Teacher, 2× State Debate Champion, Cambridge & Rotary Essay Award Winner, and Founder of Girls Lead Now, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering girls through leadership and public speaking, I bring both academic achievement and real teaching experience to every session. I have firsthand experience coaching middle school students in public speaking and communication, helping them become more confident speakers, stronger writers, and critical thinkers. My background in debate, leadership, and award-winning writing allows me to teach students how to write persuasively, organize ideas effectively, and communicate with confidence.
My lessons are designed for middle school students seeking support in English, essay writing, grammar, public speaking, debate, and communication skills. Whether a student wants to improve classroom performance, prepare for a speech or competition, strengthen their writing, or simply become a more confident communicator, I provide a supportive, encouraging environment where they can build both the skills and the confidence to succeed.
