About Maame

Hello, I'm Maame. I'm a first-year electrical engineering student at QUT Gardens Point and I'm originally from Ghana. I started high school in Australia at 16 and experienced the grueling stages of senior school. I am well-versed in Math and Physics, and I enjoy reading classics. English was one of my best subjects at the end of Year 12 so I'm a well-rounded student. I hope to use my skills and experience to help other students have an easier senior school experience.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is centered on active problem-solving and building a strong foundation of understanding. My techniques include:
Starting with the basics: I first work with the student to identify any gaps in their foundational knowledge because a shaky understanding of fundamentals makes everything else harder.
Guided practice & worked examples: We’ll work through problems together. I will guide the student towards the solution using helpful questions and hints. This helps them learn the reasoning process, not just the final answer.
Learning by teaching: A key step is asking the student to explain a solved problem back to me in their own words. If you can teach it, you truly understand it.
Exam technique: We’ll go over past exam papers, focus on time management, and learn how to break down tricky questions.
A typical lesson length would be 60 - 90 minutes. As a current first-year Engineering student, I use math and physics every day, as well as lots of report writing. I am constantly learning and applying these principles, so I have a fresh and practical perspective on how to succeed. I understand the challenges of the QCE curriculum because I successfully navigated it not long ago. I am patient, clear, and I am committed to helping you achieve your specific academic goals.
