About Farayi

Hello! My name is Farayi, and I am originally from Zimbabwe. I currently live in Denmark, where I am pursuing a master's degree in Journalism, Media and Globalization at Aarhus University.

I hold a bachelor's degree in English and Communication and have more than 15 years of professional experience as a journalist, editor and communications specialist.

Throughout my career, I have worked with international and local media organizations, including The Independent in the United Kingdom, Daily News Zimbabwe and Mongabay. My work has involved writing, editing, conducting interviews and communicating complex ideas clearly to different audiences.

I also spent a year in the United States as a Hubert H. Humphrey Fellow at Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. This experience strengthened my international communication skills and gave me the opportunity to interact with people from different cultures and professional backgrounds.

What I bring to tutoring is not just academic knowledge of English, but years of practical experience using the language professionally. I understand the importance of speaking confidently, expressing ideas clearly and adapting communication to different situations.

I am patient, approachable and genuinely interested in helping others develop their abilities. I believe every student learns differently, and I aim to create a relaxed and encouraging environment where questions are welcome and mistakes are part of the learning process.

Outside work and academics, I enjoy sports, reading, traveling and meeting people from different cultures.

Whether you are learning English for education, career development or everyday communication, I look forward to helping you achieve your goals.

About the lesson

My approach to teaching English is practical, engaging and tailored to each student's needs. I believe the best way to learn a language is to use it regularly, build confidence and learn from mistakes in a supportive environment.

With more than 15 years of experience as a journalist and editor, and a degree in English and Communication, I bring real-world language experience into my lessons. I have spent much of my career writing, editing, interviewing people and communicating with audiences from different backgrounds.

My teaching approach

I focus on conversation, reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation, depending on what each student wants to achieve. I use real-life situations, news articles, everyday conversations and practical exercises to make lessons interesting and relevant.

What a typical lesson looks like

We begin with a short conversation to practise speaking and build confidence. We then focus on a specific skill, such as grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation or writing. Students get opportunities to practise, ask questions and receive constructive feedback. We finish by reviewing what we have learned and identifying areas for improvement.

What makes my lessons different

As a journalist, I understand that good English is not just about grammar. It is about communicating ideas clearly, confidently and naturally. I can also help students improve their professional writing, prepare for interviews, deliver presentations and communicate effectively in the workplace.

My lessons are suitable for teenagers, university students and adults, from beginner to advanced levels. Whether you want to improve everyday English, prepare for a job interview, strengthen your academic writing or become more confident speaking English, I will adapt our lessons to your goals.
