About Olivia

I've taught a range of levels from beginner to advanced and of a range of ages. To me, language learning should be fun and relevant to the learner. This is why all my lessons are tailored to the needs and interests of the learner. I understand that language learning can be embarrassing or nerve-racking sometimes which is why it's really important to me that my learners feel comfortable at all times - there is no such thing as a silly question! I have a good sense of humour and have studied the cognitive processes of language learning and maintaining linguistic systems. I believe this understanding helps me to be an attentive and supportive teacher. I provide regular feedback and encouragement and am open to receiving feedback from the learner so that I can best support their needs.

About the lesson

I like to balance speaking, listening, writing and listening skills as I believe they're all important to helping you become a well-rounded English Language speaker. I love grammar and think it's really important but I also love conversational English and like to help my students achieve a natural sounding proficiency of language.

It's important to me my lessons are fun and engaging so the format can change. It may also change according to the language area being studied and the materials being used.

It is important to me that you reach your desired goals. In this light, you tell me what you want to know or what you like, and I'll help you achieve it :)

Olivia is a supportive tutor with an excellent command of the English language. Both of my children have had tutoring with her for the last 2 years (from age 6 to 10). Her lessons are engaging, informative and fun. The extra support is especially useful for my daughter who has learning difficulties. I would highly recommend Olivia for any level of learning.
