About Kimberly
I have hold two degrees, a Bachelors and a Masters, in English Literature.
I am currently a volunteer tutor with an organisation which helps disadvantaged young people achieve the highest grades they can. I am passionate about education and my subject of English. This comes across in my tutorials and I have seen my student improve rapidly since beginning the project.
I have done a variety of safeguarding training and have 3+ years experience of working with children and young people.

I currently tutor at a GCSE level in English and am also available for A level English Literature. Any English tutoring requirements prior to GCSE level are additionally available.
In terms of how I tutor, I like to understand the pupil's needs before we begin working together: topics they struggle with, areas they need to be more confident in, or subjects that need to be revised before exams. Using this information, I plan how many sessions we should need roughly, and what topics we will cover.
I plan lessons by taking one topic the student wants to cover and I ensure the lesson goes through this area thoroughly. I plan small activities throughout my sessions so that the student is engaged in a more varied way throughout and so I can see that they are grasping what I am teaching effectively. I go over and explain any areas which are confusing to the pupil in a way that is easy to comprehend. I do not merely lecture the student - I want the session to be varied, enjoyable and engaging!
After a session, I write up what we have covered into a revision resource so that it is available to them for future reference and for when they are studying for exams.
I have a friendly and approachable style when it comes to tutoring. I am by no means intimidating and I can remember being in the pupil's shoes!
