About Nicolas

I’m a Brown University English major and award-winning debater with five years of one-on-one tutoring experience in AP English Language & Literature and SAT Evidence-Based Reading & Writing. My data-driven approach begins with a focused diagnostic to pinpoint your strengths and growth areas, then builds skills through guided analysis, timed practice, and targeted feedback. You’ll benefit from clear, structured lessons, transparent progress tracking, and proven strategies for crafting persuasive arguments and achieving top scores—all delivered with the professionalism and reliability you deserve.

About the lesson

I employ a structured, student-centered approach that combines diagnostic assessments with guided practice. Each concept—whether rhetorical analysis, grammar rules, or essay organization—is introduced through clear models and Socratic questioning, then reinforced with targeted exercises under timed conditions. Immediate, constructive feedback ensures you understand both strengths and areas for improvement.

Sample 60-Minute Lesson
- 5 min Review & Goal Setting: Brief recap of previous work and today’s objectives
- 10 min Diagnostic Drill: Timed grammar or reading-comprehension exercise to identify focus areas
- 20 min Concept Exploration: Close reading of a passage or guided essay-planning demonstration, followed by collaborative practice
- 15 min Independent Application: Student completes a short writing task or set of questions, with on-the-spot feedback
- 10 min Summary & Assignment: Review key takeaways and assign personalized homework to reinforce today’s skills

Key Differentiators
- Proven Expertise: Award-winning debate background and extensive essay-writing experience inform advanced argumentation and clarity of expression.
- Data-Driven Progress: Ongoing performance tracking with simple, transparent reports to monitor growth and adjust focus.
- Holistic Support: Emphasis on test-taking strategies, time management, and confidence-building to ensure long-term success, not just test scores.

Ideal Candidates

- SAT Test-Takers aiming to maximize Evidence-Based Reading & Writing scores
- College Applicants seeking polished personal-statement essays
- Advanced English Learners pursuing academic-level reading comprehension and writing proficiency
