About Kara
I have extensive experience in teaching across various roles. At a community college, I administer and teach in multiple healthcare programs, ranging from certificates to bachelor's level courses, and have expanded program offerings. I also teach NCLEX preparation on a per diem basis with a large test prep company, creating engaging learning environments for student success. Previously, as a full-time faculty member at the same community college, I taught theory and clinical content, guest lectured, and taught a hybrid nutrition course. I supported ESOL students, facilitated trainings, organized community mentors, and designed a professional development workshop. My teaching journey began with AmeriCorps, where I provided academic support to low-income elementary school students and managed afterschool programs.
Outside of the classroom, I love reading and spending time with my two Dalmatians.

I teach a variety of classes focused on science, health and the human body, healthcare careers and pathways, and nursing. With over a decade of nursing experience, I currently run a nursing school at a local community college. My educational background includes a doctorate, master's, bachelor's, and associate's degrees in various nursing disciplines.
My teaching philosophy centers on creating an engaging and supportive learning environment tailored to the unique needs of each student. I believe in fostering creativity and curiosity while supporting students in their physical, mental, emotional, and social growth. I strive to create a classroom atmosphere where students feel safe to express their ideas, take risks, and embrace both their own individuality and the differences of others. It is my goal to cultivate a caring community where students can truly thrive and reach their full potential.
