About Rehuell
I want to teach secondary school mathematics because I firmly believe that education is the ultimate tool for changing our lifestyle. Mathematics is often viewed merely as a set of formulas to memorize, but in reality, it is a powerful framework for personal and social transformation. By reframing how students approach this challenging subject, I aim to equip teenagers with the vital mental and social tools they need to navigate the modern world.
At the secondary level, many students face deep-rooted math anxiety. I see this not as an obstacle, but as a critical opportunity to shift their mindset. By encouraging students to view mistakes as natural steps in the learning process, I can help them replace a fixed mindset with a growth mindset. When a student learns to persevere through a complex calculus problem or a difficult algebraic equation, they build a habit of resilience. This mental toughness directly alters their lifestyle, transforming them from individuals who avoid difficulties into proactive problem solvers who welcome challenges in all areas of life.
Furthermore, the math classroom is an ideal space to cultivate positive social habits. Math should not be a lonely endeavor. By structuring lessons around collaborative problem-solving, I will encourage students to work in teams, articulate their logic, and actively listen to differing viewpoints. These exercises build essential life skills such as empathy, patience, and clear communication. Ultimately, my goal is to graduate students who are not only mathematically competent, but who also possess the collaborative spirit and resilient mindset necessary to improve their communities and elevate their daily lives.
