My son, Nico, has been studying with Lara for several weeks and the classes have been a resounding success. Nico was very "ambivalent" about English, and I was just hoping Lara would give him some confidence for exams. Not only did she manage that, she also kindled an interest and enthusiasm for literature that (I feel) is sadly pounded out of young people by the overemphasis on assessment. Nico even told me after one session, "Lara makes English interesting again!"

Lara has been fantastic for my daughter building up to her GCSE's. She has really focussed on my daughter's specific needs and taught her how to word answers appropriately. She has built her confidence & self belief. I would highly recommend Lara!

What can I say, I can highly recommend Lara , she is such a brilliant tutor, she brings out the potential in her students by really examining their motivations and exploring their thoughts on the topics, not just following the mark scheme. Both of my children spent valuable tutoring time with Lara for GCSE English literature and language . I have a boy and a girl entering with different motivations , one with struggle to enjoy English to its full and the typical ‘boys can’t do English’ perception and the other wanting an in-depth conversation due to love of it. Lara skillfully nurtured their thoughts and approach and tailored her tutoring. My boy finished with an excitement for English and fantastic gcse grades to boot (9 and 8) and my daughter became so creative and confident in her language and analysis and ideas, coming out with two 9’s . The uniqueness of Lara is that she listens and understands the pupil and then adapts. This is not just exam passing it’s building depth of understanding and finding the love of their subject for the future, if they love it , they do so much better. Thank you Lara

I honestly can’t recommend Lara enough. She played such a huge role in helping me build confidence in my English and academic writing skills. Her support and encouragement genuinely helped me achieve grades and outcomes I never thought I was capable of.

As someone who’s training to become a doctor, strong communication and writing skills have been incredibly important throughout my journey, and Lara was a massive part of helping me develop those foundations early on. She even helped support me through writing my EPQ, where her guidance, feedback and enthusiasm for English made such a difference.

What stood out most was how approachable and encouraging she always was — she made you believe you could do well, even when you doubted yourself. She creates an environment where students feel supported, motivated and genuinely capable of succeeding. She’s also a great laugh!!
