About Sebastian

Playing an instrument is a wonderful thing: it inspires as well as offers reprieve from the rest of the world. There’s nothing better than zoning out and strumming a guitar. And if you want to learn how to play one, I can help! I am a guitar teacher offering customised classes based on your goals and aptitude. I teach classical guitar grades where the pupils can learn to sight-read and develop good technique. I can also teach pop songs or focus on creativity through guitar composition and improvisation. I studied grade 8 classical guitar and trombone while at school before proceeding to study guitar further at the Academy of Contemporary Music to gain a BA (Hons) in Music Performance. I have been teaching guitar privately for 10 years with classes designed to help my students become accomplished musicians. Whether you want classical guitar classes or modern renditions, I’m flexible to tailor my sessions based on your preferences and abilities. My classes are designed to enhance your knowledge, building your skills and adapt to your needs whilst enabling you to grow musically and gain confidence and a deeper appreciation for music and all its wonders. I’m punctual, friendly, patient and great at inspiring my students to go the distance and achieve their dreams. Whether you want to become a better player to perform at a gig or pass a grade or simply learn for your own pleasure, you can count on my attention and instructions. Please get in touch for a detailed chat.

About the lesson

I have been teaching the Trinity Classical Guitar syllabus for a while now, this involves learning 3 pieces along with scales and exercises that focus on technique. Along side learning the material you will learn to sight read, understand music theory and learn fingerstyle techniques which improve all areas of you musicality!

The Trinity acoustic syllabus and the Rockschool acoustic syllabus have a similar layout to the classical but the the pieces cover more contemporary songs of the last 100years. The pieces are often instrumental arrangements of popular songs which are a lot of fun to play and often have backing tracks to play along to!

We can also focus on learning songs and styles the pupil has an interest in, and learn to compose and improvise around those styles as well as learning how to play / jam with other musicians!

We will always work on developing musicality, and how to create the best sound on the acoustic guitar! (Nylon and/ or steelstrung)

Sebastian has taught our son Michael for roughly 7 years both within education and privately. Sebastian comes highly recommended as a guitar teacher our son has always enjoyed his lesson in classical guitar. Sebastian is patient and encouraging. He keeps his students motivated to learn by varying the music style to include popular music to the students taste. He is very reliable and dedicated in helping our son reach his musical potential.
