About Mary

Mary Njoki – Mathematics Tutor with a Strong Academic and Finance Background My name is Mary Njoki. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Finance option, and have a strong foundation in Mathematics. I performed exceptionally well in Mathematics throughout primary and secondary school. During that time, I regularly tutored my classmates and organized group revision sessions during school holidays. This early experience built my confidence in teaching and sparked a lasting interest in helping others succeed in math. Professionally, I have worked in the finance and accounting field for several years. This allows me to connect mathematical concepts to real-world business and financial applications, making learning more practical and engaging for students. My teaching approach is clear, structured, and tailored to the individual needs of each learner. I focus on simplifying complex topics, reinforcing understanding through guided practice, and building student confidence through consistent support. I offer lessons for: 1. High school students preparing for exams 2. University students pursuing business, finance, or accounting courses 3. Adult learners seeking to improve practical math skills I am professional, patient, and committed to helping learners achieve strong results and a lasting understanding of mathematics.

About the lesson

My Approach as a Mathematics Tutor As a tutor with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management (Finance option) and a strong background in accounting and practical finance, I aim to make mathematics relatable, engaging, and easy to understand for learners of all levels. I combine theory with real-world applications, ensuring students not only pass exams but also appreciate the value of math in everyday life and careers. Teaching Methods and Techniques 1. I use a step-by-step, student-centered approach that focuses on: 2.Breaking down complex mathematical concepts into simple, manageable steps 3.Using real-life examples, especially in business and finance, to make learning meaningful 4.Visual aids like charts and diagrams to support different learning styles 5.Frequent assessments and feedback to track progress and build confidence Typical Lesson Plan 1.Each lesson is structured to promote understanding and retention: 2.Warm-up (5 mins): A quick review of previous material or a fun brain teaser 3.Core Lesson (30 mins): Introduction of new topic with clear explanations, examples, and interactive problem-solving 4.Practice Time (15 mins): Guided exercises to apply the concept 5.Wrap-Up & Q&A (10 mins): Summary, address difficulties, and give take-home practice What Sets Me Apart Real-World Relevance: I bridge textbook learning with practical applications in finance and business, showing students the "why" behind the "what." Patience and Empathy: Having once struggled with some math concepts myself, I relate to students' frustrations and work patiently with them. Professional Insight: My experience in accounting and finance adds depth to lessons, especially for students interested in business careers. Who My Lessons Are For 1.High school students preparing for secondary or other math exams 2.College and university students pursuing business, accounting, or finance-related courses 3.Adult learners who need math skills for work or further education 4.Students struggling with specific areas, such as algebra, business math, statistics, or financial mathematics
