About Josh
In addition to four years as a Community College tutor and three years as an independent online tutor, I graduated with a degree in natural sciences from the University of Pittsburgh in December 2023 with a 3.8 GPA. This degree program allows students to select a science-based subject of emphasis along with supplemental courses. My emphasis was on statistics, which I developed a passion for at Pitt. I ultimately turned that passion into a podcast, NBA Retrospective, where I chronicled past NBA seasons from a statistical standpoint. Therefore, I feel very confident that I can help you particularly with statistics courses.

My tutoring approach is simple: work hard with you until you get it. We are in it together. I focus on individualized attention, not meeting an arbitrary time standard. If you need longer to go over something, so be it. I once had a student at community college who I’ll call Jim. Jim got so frustrated with algebra 1 that he threw his textbook out the window. Yet, I spent hours with Jim week after week in the college tutoring center, and he eventually passed algebra 1 and moved on to a University program. While in college, I took several statistics courses and developed a passion for it, so I tutor students in stats all the time and I'm confident I can help you there. I have tutored students from ages 12-66, so, whether you’re in high school and struggling with algebra for the first time or you’re back in school after a long layoff and haven’t seen math or statistics in a while, I can help you.
Ultimately, my goal is to help you understand the material well enough to get to your next step, whether that’s earning a passing grade in high school, completing a gen-ed requirement for college, or indulging personal interest. While you will find tutors with greater academic credentials than me, remember the quote I heard from Minnesota football coach PJ Fleck: “nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care.” Advanced credentials of a tutor will not make you a better student. Working hard with a tutor who cares will. Contact me on Superprof if you need help. I look forward to working with you.

Perfect! Josh was great with my son. Second lesson coming up
- Alec was very attentive and absorbed the material well. We worked through a three-variable linear equations problem that identified Johnny Manziel's Heisman votes by place, which initially appeared complicated, but Alec got the breakdown.Josh's response :
Perfect! Matthew was very happy with the tutor lesson and felt he gained some confidence in the subject along with problem solving and strategies for learning. He looks forward to his next session. Thank you, Brian E. Kampi
- Matthew was a pleasure to work with. I clarified standard error (sd/sqrt n) and the Complement Rule and we applied to example problems. Matthew takes instruction very well and was quite receptive.Josh's response :
