About Ryan
I have been passionately studying and making my own music for nearly a decade. I now study Music Industry at California State University Northridge where I have learned many tricks that I can share with my students that will allow them to quickly feel confident playing on the entire fretboard of the guitar as well as understanding how chords and melodies fit together to make effortless seeming guitar solos much more attainable.
I began teaching guitar formally for my high school senior project where I taught a weekly one hour course for a semester to the 6th grade at San Antonio Elementary in Ojai, CA. I then quickly began teaching in the community giving lessons to people of all ages.
I have spent many years playing guitar both on my own and in school music groups. I now study music Industry at California State University Northridge with a focus on Electric Bass.

I start with every new student by asking them to explain to me their current skill level and knowledge base surrounding the guitar (no matter how much or little) then have them share their goals in learning the guitar so I can create a completely customized lesson plan for them highlighting the techniques that interest them the most and will be the most beneficial in achieving guitar mastery.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I think the most important thing that students should think about before talking to their teachers is what they plan to get out of the lessons, whether it is learning new soloing techniques or just a few songs to be able to sing around the campfire. I believe when there is a clear goal in mind that learning a new skill will be much more rewarding and less frustrating.
