About Daniel
As an actor, I am most well-known for my role as pop star Mark Cherry on "Arrested Development" as well as for appearances on "The Office", "Glee", "CSI:NY", and "Awkward". I was most recently in the film "FACE 2 FACE", which is currently streaming on Netflix. I have appeared in many commercials (including a Pepsi Superbowl commercial), and I have done at least a play per year since I was in 8th grade. I'm also a Voice Actor (lots of commercials, narration, eLearning, and animation experience) and Improviser (UCB, Second City, iO).
As a graduate of Yale University where I studied English and Theater, education has always been an important part of my life. I taught Martial Arts to both kids and adults for 10 years, and I also spent 8 years as an ACT/SAT tutor for high school students preparing to apply to college.
I am someone who is currently an "in the trenches" actor who is working and auditioning out there in the real world, so I know the landscape. I love acting, and I love sharing my expertise with my students to help them hone their craft and prepare for both auditions and roles!
I love helping students develop their own personal taste in what they consider to be good, both for themselves in their work and when watching other work on stage or screen. You can't always control whether someone decides to cast you, but you can control your standards for the work you bring into the room! The motto to remember is to do your best and have fun!

In acting, the more you can bring yourself to the role, the more unique your performance will be. I try to inspire my students to be honest and to have fun in our lessons right from the start. Most lessons start with us talking about the material we are working on and if there are any traps or worries that the student is having about it that they'd like for me to help them with. I have many exercises for inspiring freedom and a sense of play in a student's work, so ideally, each lesson should feel like a mini-workout that was both fun and tiring!
The most important thing is that you feel comfortable working together, so see if you get along with the teacher personally. You want to feel like you're working with a friend who gets you and knows how to bring the best out of you. Also, make sure that the teacher has experience acting themselves so that you can feel confident that they've been through what you're currently going through in pursuing a career in the arts.
