About Eric B
I'm most excited to join you on your Artistic journey, and collaborate with you on finding freedom and liberation in your acting work. I think the imagination is a powerful muscle, and I can't wait to help you exercise yours! It is the actors job to illuminate humanity; so let's shine that beautiful light!
I've been a working professional Actor since 1998, and have been teaching acting masterclasses since 2003. I grew up in Baltimore, MD, performing at the Arena Players, Inc; the oldest continuously operating Afircan-American community theatre in the US. I have done "The Lion King", and was in the original Broadway casts of "Hairspray" and "Mary Poppins". Most recently, I was seen on Showtime's "The Affair", Disney+'s "Encore!", and Lifetime Movie Network's "I'll Be Watching".
Check out my website www. EricBAnthony.com, and feel free to connect with me on all platforms @EricBAnthony! I'm looking forward to making Art with you!
Most enjoyable in the work, for me, is the opportunity to collaborate with other Artists on their artistic journey. I LOVE storytelling, and coming up with exciting choices and bold ideas for the character. I really enjoy bringing people to the awareness of all that they have to offer through their work.
I've been doing Masterclasses since 2003, and basically started then because someone invited me to share my knowledge with younger Artists at the time. I became a Teaching Artist officially in 2018, when I was living in Las Vegas, working on a new Marilyn Monroe musical. I was hired by The Smith Center's education department for Camp Broadway, and then later for the Disney Musicals in Schools program. I have been teaching ongoing at the BGB Studio in Los Angeles since 2019.
I have been a professional, Union actor since 1998. I trained in musical theatre my entire childhood at the Arena Players, Incorporated; the oldest, continuously operating African-American community theatre in the US. I received my high school diploma from the George Washington Carver Center for the Arts and Technology, where I trained in acting, singing, and dancing. I've trained independently as an actor with Johnnie Hobbs, Jr., Anthony Abeson, and Steve Braun.

First, I make sure to identify exactly what kind of work the Artist is desiring to focus on, so I can be sure that what I offer is in alignment with what they need. And then we get to work!
I work with all levels of students; youth to adult, professional and amateur.
Be sure you're clear about what you need, and the type of work you're interested in doing with the teacher. Make sure the person you're hiring to work with you is clear about the kind of services they offer, the pricing for their service, and has a way of communicating that resonates with you.
I recently had an opportunity to see some friends in a production of Pearl Cleage's "Blues for an Alabama Sky" at the Mark Taper Forum here in LA. I attended the show on 'Black Night Out'; which the theatre sponsors an evening for Black-identifying individuals to commune, and watch the show together. So much JOY taking in that very complex piece with an audience that shares my cultural experience. I really LOVED it!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What are my goals, long and short-term, when it comes to training, and my career?
Am I ready to commit to the work it takes to be emotionally available and vulnerable enough to lend my voice to other people's stories?

Eric is a fantastic teacher! I've had many an ah- hah moment in his classes! I would highly highly recommend! One of the best things about his classes, are the questions he asks, instead of telling you how to do something, he teaches you how to find that for yourself. How to make character decisions, how to be specific, and how to be PRESENT. My anxiety has been significantly improved in my work, because my confidence as grown so much, being a part of Eric's classes! I've been to a handful of bad classes, and a handful of good classes, and Eric is by far one of the best acting teachers I've had the pleasure of working with! If you have a chance to work with him, don't pass it up! You'll be a better artists, and a better human!
I enjoyed Eric B. Anthony‘s energy and how he handled things with grace. It’s truly a honor to be in his presence. If you haven’t had an opportunity to work with him or share the same space you are missing out.
Eric is such a joy and bright light in this world. I took class with him for almost a year, and in that time I grew tremendously not only in my craft, but also as a person. He seems to know exactly when you need to be gently challenged, and when you need support. He creates a wonderfully safe space for you to expand your boundaries and dive deeper into your work. Would absolutely recommend him to anyone!
Eric leads from vulnerability, truth and joy. Everyone who comes into his presence and his guidance leaves more empowered in their work and specific in their choices. Whenever I work with Eric, my scenes are alive and so specifically me. You won’t simply leave his class a better actor and listener. You’ll come out fired up to stake your place in this industry!!
Eric is a fantastic acting teacher! He goes in depth with emotions in a way that's truly thoughtful and investigative, and gets you to make bold, grounded creative choices as an actor under pressure, which is invaluable in an industry where the circumstances are constantly changing. I grew a lot and gained so much confidence in my acting while working with Eric, and I hope you do too!
So patient, kind, and knowledgeable. His teaching helps you not only with your craft but life in general. Never had a teacher like him and don't think I ever will again!
I came across Eric when I was struggling with feeling detached from my body and emotions and was looking for a heart-centered approach to acting. And what a lucky find that was!! Eric is one of the kindest, most big-hearted and highly intuitive people and coaches I've met so far. He lovingly guided me back to my creative soul and helped me honor and value my artistic being. I cannot recommend working with Eric enough. He's incredibly knowledgeable and funny, has a no BS attitude (...yes, he WILL call you out on your *&%$, but trust me, it's always for your benefit...:-)) and will help you discover the world outside of your comfort zone. So yes, I highly, highly recommend working with Eric!!
I absolutely loved working with Eric! He set a very safe and fun classroom space in which you can play and feel vulnerable. I’m the type of person who takes a while to warm up to people in order to feel safe enough to act and play and not be afraid of “failing” or “ridiculing” myself, but in Eric’s class I was truly able to let go, be myself, and even feel encouraged to have fun and shine my light! He also challenges you in many ways, the growth I’ve experienced as an actor in even just a few months of his classes is immense and I have Eric to thank. I love working with Eric B. Anthony and I hope to do so again very soon!
Eric is empowering coach. He has a way of encouraging me through a scene by letting me figure out on my own choices. He challenges my creativity. It's always a pleasure to work with Eric.
Eric was such a warm and welcoming support to everyone in my class, no matter where they were coming from. I especially felt safe as a newbie to this acting class, since I was coming from years of comedic training and was nervous. I felt encouraged to explore and play which is everything in this kind of environment. I cannot wait to be taught/coached by him again!
Eric has such an amazing way of working with others and offers interesting and useful perspective in order to help the artist dig deeper into the work. I also love his heart posture towards art and creativity. It's so refreshing to have a teacher who is filled with such passion for creating and is able to effortlessly spread that through his students. I felt supported in every class.
Eric’s class opened my eyes and made me grow as an artist so much. I immediately was able to take what I learned in class and use it in my career seeing results. Not only did I learn my craft but I learned to be better all around. I would take Eric’s class any day and consider myself lucky to have been taught by such an amazing person.
Eric is genuinely passionate about the craft of acting and helping others do their best work. By asking the right questions, he helps you to dig deeper into the humanity and truth of a character, which in turn helps your work to “pop” and be riveting.
I've had the wondrous blessing of being in class and artistic forums shepherded by Eric. Through those experiences I've come to know him as a brother. He always has with ease created a space of freedom, one filled with warmth and space where all are welcome and able to freely express themselves. Add in the Love and Empathy he leads with and I can fullheartedly say being able to work with Eric has been profound and I look forward to the next time I'm able to do so.
I adore Eric B. Anthony. He approaches teaching with some beautiful care and his whole heart. I always feel so supported with him as my teacher and would leave class feeling like my creative cup was filled. Eric is a true artist and his artistry seeps into everything he does. I look forward to just being in his presence, and he is always ever so present, from teaching to coaching for auditions to his entire being. Highly recommend this brilliant man!
Eric has the heart of an angel and the heart-guided wisdom of a master in his craft.

My standard pricing system, which I really believe is quite considerate for other Artists, is $1/min. I think paying for your time is worth it, and $1 seems fair to me.
