About Gehan
I am active in the industry as an actor, producer and singer. My independent feature film 'The Billionaire', which I adapted from a George Bernard Shaw play, and in which I acted alongside 7 time Emmy Award winner Heather Tom, just won Best Comedy Feature Film at the Burbank International Film Festival 2020. Post production for the film took place at Warner Bros. I also made my Carnegie Hall solo concert debut in October 2019.
I have a B.A in Dramatic Arts from the University of Southern California (USC) where I graduated in 2009 with Renaissance Scholar and Discovery Scholar Honors. I had been studying Speech and Drama since the age of 4, and am well versed in a range of acting techniques from Classical Stage Acting to contemporary Film and TV acting.
I am a firm believer that acting cannot be approached with a "one style fits all" mentality, and that an actor should have several different acting techniques in his or her arsenal to be able to play a variety of roles across a spectrum of different genres and media.
I have been helping actors exceed their expectations and transcend the boundaries that other people place on them, so that those who study and work with me unlock and unleash their emotional, intellectual, dramatic and comedic potential with astonishing power.
I thoroughly enjoy seeing my students discover new dimensions within themselves, as actors and as people, whenever I take them to places they hadn't deemed themselves capable of going to before. I love to teach my students tried and tested acting techniques (some of which are over 2,000 years old, while some were developed more recently in the 20th and 21st centuries), so that they can confidently pull a solid technique out of their 'utility belt' (to use a Batman analogy) that fits the material or the genre in question, whether they are going out for a TV audition, filming a scene on set, or performing a live play.
I also greatly enjoy counselling and coaching my students with regard to the myriad issues they may face as they go about building a life and a career for themselves as actors. An actor is a human being first, and I find that most acting teachers and coaches set their students up for failure in the long run by ignoring the humanistic issues that go hand in hand with acting and career-building.
I started teaching acting while I was still in high school, based on my academic knowledge and lifelong experience as an actor.
B.A in Dramatic Arts from the University of Southern California (USC), where I graduated with Renaissance Scholar and Discovery Scholar Honors in 2009. I also minored in Cinema-Television at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, as well as in Psychology - which gives me a psychological foundation to supplement my dramatic and cinematic knowledge, thereby enabling me to work with students in the most optimal manner.
I have studied Speech and Drama since the age of 4, and have also completed a number of Drama examinations with Trinity College, London and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama while still a child, which held me in excellent stead when I started studying at USC in my late teens.

I first identify their goals and specific needs, and structure the lessons in a way that serves the individual. The first lesson or two will cover overarching Acting Theory/Acting Technique, with an emphasis on the acting principles and style(s) that will be most applicable to the student in question. Each lesson/session is customized from that point onwards, so that students can bring in their own material to work on, in addition to/in lieu of material that I provide.
My first students were only a year younger than I, while I was a senior in high school.
Since graduating from USC, I have been teaching and coaching actors encompassing a wide variety of ages, although most of my students have been under 30. They have ranged from novices to experienced, working actors in the industry.

Some of the best hours of my life, with one of the best dramatists I have ever met, in an absolutely gorgeous location in Hollywood. Wow!!!!!!!
Gehan's knowledge is absolutely staggering. He was extremely professional and full of courtesy and consideration, while also helping me tap into facets of myself that I didn't even know existed as an actor.

My standard pricing system is one dollar a minute, as follows (please note that when I say "scene work", this can include monologues and soliloquies):
*. $30 for 30 minutes (primarily for scene work)
*. $45 for 45 minutes (scene work plus acting theory)
*. $60 for one hour (scene work, acting theory/technique plus acting exercises and personal counselling)
*. $90 for 90 minutes (all of the above, plus life coaching which is distinct from personal counselling in the sense that it covers the big picture of your life/career as an actor, whereas personal counselling concerns more specific issues you face in life as an actor/person)
Our very first session should be at least 45 minutes long, to be of real benefit to you. From that point onwards, we can do 30 minute lessons, or go onto one hour or 90 minute sessions, depending on your needs.
