About Samantha
Sami is a New York based director with Broadway, Off-Broadway, and Film directing experience. She has over 10 years of experience in the industry. She has worked on Matilda the musical, both on Broadway and the National Tour, Southern Comfort at the Public Theater, and is a Drama League Directing Fellow. She specializes in acting training for film and theater, and has worked with all ages and experience levels. She is kind and generous, but also unafraid to push her students hard to reach the next level. She can work with you on general acting training, acting for musical theater, class and audition prep, acting for camera, and public speaking. (concealed information)
I have a BA from Brandeis University in Theater Arts with a concentration in directing and a minor in Education. I have also done the assistant directing program at the Hangar Theatre in Ithica NY, completed SpringboardNYC through the American Theater Wing, and am a Drama League Directing Fellow. I have been directing and coaching for over 10 years in NY, working in theater, musical theater, and film.

The first session will begin with a conversation about previous experience and what the student hopes to learn. From there we will either start with some exercies and talk about technique or delve straight into a peice of text or a song, depending on the students skill level and needs.
Find someone who has teaching experience but also works in the industry. There is a big difference between a lot of what is taught in classrooms and what is needed to be a professional in the industry. I would advocate for working artists, like myself, who also coach and teach on the side. It is the perfect balance for all levels of student.
I recently spent 2.5 years working on Matilda the Musical, both the Broadway and off-Broadway productions. On the show I worked with all of the children and adults, both training them to be in the show, and in the case of many of the children also teaching them how to act and be in a professional show. After that I directed the Drama League Benefit Gala Honoring Steve Martin, and then directed the Bryant Park Christmas Tree Lighting Skate-tacular.
