About Margaret

As a second-year medical student at Baylor College of Medicine, I have a strong background in biology and chemistry, as well as math. I love helping students reach their eureka moments, especially in biology! I can also teach SAT and ACT prep, as my scores were 1590 and 35, respectively. Additionally, I have a lot of experience applying to college and medical school, so I am excited to guide high school and undergraduate students along the paths they hope to follow.

I started tutoring professionally when a friend offered me a job to tutor his younger sister in Calculus AB (the AP equivalent to Calculus 1). 



I am currently a second-year medical student at Baylor College of Medicine. I graduated from UTRGV in 2022 with a Bachelor’s in Biology and two minors in Chemistry and Music. I matriculated to my medical school through a BS/MD program, so I can advise students interested in applying to college and medical school.

Generally, I like to plan ahead with my student the topics we will go over in our next session. For a new student, this would be before our first session.

During the session itself, I like to start with new students by either talking with them about general concepts or by working through a few problems together. This helps me figure out which specific areas the student needs to work on. 



The student I have worked with is a hard worker and a responsible student. We usually work on practice problems and examples during our sessions.



I think that it is important to have a teacher who is patient and willing to find a teaching method that suits you specifically. I think that students struggle in a classroom setting because the teacher can only teach a subject using one or two methods for 20 to even 100 students, so it does not always work for everyone.
