  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

Since primary school, I have set up a whiteboard at home and taught my friends while waiting
for the school bus. That joy of explaining things never left me. Over 20 years in financial
services enhanced my knowledge, and tutoring became the natural way to combine my
professional skill set with my passion for helping others learn.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Financial Reporting, Economics,
Mathematics, Business & Technology, and Econometrics. I love that numbers are universal —
the same concepts apply from school right through to professional practice. My favourite
moments are when students see financial statements come alive and realise they can read a
    company's story through its numbers.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

My mother is a dedicated school principal. Watching her mark scripts and write lesson plans late
into the evening, while managing everything else, taught me that teaching is a calling, not just a
job. In many ways, it is in my DNA.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

Deep knowledge, genuine patience, and the passion to make a real difference. I would add
adaptability — the ability to read each student and adjust your approach accordingly is what
separates a good tutor from a great one.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

Every time I teach, I learn too. A student's question often pushes me to think more clearly and
explain more precisely. I always send my students a message on exam day wishing them well
    — and seeing them succeed, especially those who started out struggling, is my greatest reward.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

A student who attends sessions but skips revision. Tutoring opens the door — only consistent
self-study lets you walk through it. I address this by setting clear expectations and assigning
focused practice between sessions, keeping students accountable in a supportive way.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

Two, actually — Islamic finance and the moment a student finally "gets it." I hold a Master's in
Islamic Finance Practice from INCEIF and am pursuing my PhD in the same field.
In teaching, my greatest passion is the moment of breakthrough — when a student who was
struggling suddenly understands. That spark of understanding is what makes tutoring deeply
    meaningful to me.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview questions :-P) ?

My sincere intention is to see every student succeed, and that drives everything I do as a tutor.
But beyond intention, I bring over 25 years of real-world experience in finance, accounting, and
risk management — so when I teach, I do not just explain what the textbook says. I introduce
new concepts to real-world contexts, helping students understand not just the how but also the
why behind what they are learning.
Through focused and personalised tutoring, I will remain responsive and committed to each
student's study journey. I do care about every student's success.
