About Wendy

I have been teaching for 20 years. I have experience teaching College students, High school, Middle School snd Elementary school. I love biology and ecology. I have experience in getting students ready for the living environment regents.

I am certified pre-k through 6 and certified in Science 7-12.

I enjoy finding creative ways to get my students to understand the material I am covering. With younger children we may do a song or draw. With older students it may involve prior knowledge or a story.The best part of teaching is seeing that moment when the students understand something that was giving them a hard time

I was a New York City Teaching Fellow when I first started. I knew I wanted to teach and after I graduated an advertisement spoke about the fellows. After a very lengthy interview process and exams I was accepted. 



I have been teaching since 2001. I have taught at some of the accelerated NYC high schools where student test scores determine admission into the school.

My typical process for working with a new student would begin with an evaluation to see strenghths and weaknesses. Some students have very specific areas in which they would like to concentrate; while others are very general in which they tell me I like you to go through each tropic and focus on specific things  you see are my misconceptions. I would also learn which kinds of visuals, platforms the student feels comfortable with so that I can incorporate those into my lessons. 



I have experience working with ICT classrooms, student with IEPs, Gifted and talented, accelerated, and college students.  



My advice would be to try a teacher that you feel you would click with. A large part of tutoring is personality. I like to entertain and not bore. Boring results in less understanding. If you find someone that can help you paint a visit picture in your mind and make you laugh while you are learning then you have found you tutor.  



The most recent event that I am fond of was teaching Math For America teachers how to bake cupcakes virtually. Teachers, their children, and family members joined as I demonstrated and lead the cupcake class complete with frosting and homemade ice cream. 



A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I think that is you have a question and your not too sure if your response is clear or if does not have enough detail. It is important to review that question. A teacher is trained to look at solutions in many different ways. Therefore the tutor will be able to give you examples and go at explaining the material in different ways.

My lessons are 35 dollars for half an hour and 60 for an hour. I have a lot of experience and my rates are very low considering I have so much experience.
