About Warren
My secret to improving all my bowling ball customers was to teach them a little before and a little more after they got their new ball. Improving my customer's skills guaranteed they would be successful. I owned and operated bowling stores (pro shops) for 26 years. I ran bowling centers for the 17 years previous to running my stores. Helping bowlers improve through both careers helped make my businesses standout. Membership in professional associations: International Bowling Pro Shop and Instructors Assoc., USBC Coaches Assoc., International Bowling Media Assoc. YABA/ABC/USBC Member since 1963. With a career league-high average of 225, and my most recent perfect game (300) in April 2018.
I can provide some basic guidelines to make bowling fun for even the most novice bowler. But helping youngsters improve to make the school team has been very satisfying for the last 10 years. One of my students was the USBC High School All-American team Captain in 2019 from Lincolnway Central.
Helping experienced bowlers get to the next level, or spot checking bowlers that have run into a fun crushing slump, can be great fun for me and my student.
Working with teammates as a College Bowler in the mid-1970's. Helping bowling customers (17 years) at bowling centers I ran, or in bowling stores (Pro Shops - 26 years) that I owned and operated.

Former contributor to "Pro Shop Operator" Magazine, Former "Pro Shop Operator" Magazine columnist. IBPSIA Certified Technician, Coach (Certified: YABA, NBC, Ritger, USA Bowling-Bronze), (concealed information) Bowling Writers Association of America (BWAA) member now known as International Bowling Media Association, US Bowling Coaches Association member, Former Bowling Center General Manager (17 years). And 60 years a bowler.

As bowling skill is the ability to repeat (footwork, swing, ball release), we will attempt to build on a current strength or work on allowing current actions to become more natural, relaxed, less stressful and more easily repeatable. Once a new element is understood, repetition to engrain the motion into muscle memory is the objective.
From Novice to Pro caliber bowlers. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and joy of the sport, as my parents shared it with me. I continue to instruct a young lady I met from from Lincolnway Central High School. She became the Captain of the USBC/Dexter High School All-American Team in 2019. She bowls for Purdue University currently.
Understand that learning and mastering a skill takes time. Each lesson should have a single focus. Ask questions if you need more information. Look for feedback to make sure you are "getting" what is being worked on. As any physical exercise is targeting a modification of muscle memory for improved technique, if your practice does not feel different from what you used to do, STOP. Only optimum focus and consistent execution will help mold your skills. Allow for practice time between lessons.
I recently popped in on a student bowling a tournament. She won an entry to Junior Gold, a major National youth tournament. She attributed some of her success to the suggestions I made while watching. I knew the rest of her success was the years of training that got her to where she is currently. She went on to Captain the National High School Girls Bowling All-America Team 2019-2020 sponsored by Dexter Shoes and the United States Bowling Congress.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Prior to an introductory lesson, I like to discuss a student's expectations. Knowing what you want helps determine what it might take to achieve your goal. An instructor should observe a student and offer a brief evaluation of the current skill level. Then with goals in mind, suggest what efforts it could take to realize the goals. Lessons, home drills and on lane practice are all part of improving.

Details
The introductory lesson is $20, 20-30 minutes. An individual private lesson is $35, couples are $30 each, 3 players are $25 each, 4 or 5 players (bring your team, learn together, learn to help each other) $20 each. Bowling game cost varies. No cost for games at my home center Orland Bowl, Orland Park.
