About Crysta

I am an education major at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte looking to help out some students before i get out into the field. I graduated high school with a 4.7 GPA and am currently sporting a 4.0 at UNC Charlotte. My strongest subjects are math and English but I have the most experience in working with young ESL students that need help with their English class grades.

Helping students achieve their goals and better themselves is rewarding. This line of work gives me a purpose for life and allows me to feel like I am bettering the future of our world by readying the next leaders.

I was inspired by teachers and the impact they had on me. I want to do that for the future generarion.

I am an education major at UNC Charlotte.

I have tutored 11 kids, most of which are elementary students seeking help with english class. I also profread my colleagues essays so I'm available for that.

About the lesson

When I work with a new student, I first ask the parent and the student what the biggest problem area is - a student doesn't often struggle with English, they struggle with something more specific like formating an essay or comprehending literature.

After I understand the student's needs I create a lesson plan including small activities and a weekly goal so progress is obvious and therefore, encouraging.

I've worked with many elementary school, late high school, and college students, most of which didn't speak english predominantly. I work with both spanish and french speaking students.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
When you speak to someone, looking for assitance, first pinpoint exactly what the issue is. It is much easier to get the help you need from specific questions. You'll get better help quicker when you ask "How do I know which equations to apply this formula to?" rather than saying "I'm confused by these math problems.".
