About Laura
I have been teaching grades K-5 for over thirty years. Thoughout my career I have help numerous students to overcome academic struggles. In addition, I have worked to advance skill levels for those who excel in academics. I have deep understanding of curriculum standards, child development, and learning differences. I have excellent communication skills and am passionate about my work.
I have over thirty years of teaching experience. I have worked with special education, general education and gifted education students to provide individual learning plans that result in growth. I have a proven record of success and can document above average growth rates for my students. In working with students, I always consider the whole child and work hard to establish meaningful relationships.

When working with a new student I will always establish baseline levels and determine both strength and weaknesses. After diagnosing specific academic needs, I will plan lessons that will address individual student needs and target skills. Lessons will provide direct instruction, guided instruction and independent practice. Finally, target skills will be formally assessed to determine mastery levels and any necessary re-teachings will be given to assure mastery.
