About Jennifer
I build a good rapport with my students, which puts the student at ease. I am good at connecting students' interests to their lessons whenever possible to keep engagement high and FUN too. This allows students to concentrate on strengthening the target skills needed. I am patient, kind, and able to quickly scaffold lessons to meet every learners' needs.
I personally love learning and am curious by nature. Empowering students to learn how they learn, what strategies will work best for them, and how to take ownership of learning is an important aspect of what I bring to class. I enjoy helping students reach their full potential. The moment a student "get it" and the "ah-ha" look appears on their face with a huge smile, and I am reminded of why I love being a teacher. I enjoy fostering a love of learning, and for some, just learning how to shake off the negativity or fear that may be associated internally with areas that need to be targeted for improvement. We all don't LOVE everything we are required to learn, but I can help students understand what they are learning and we will probably have fun too!
I have a master's degree in education in learning and technology, a bachelors' degree in psychology and elementary education, and I am a certified teacher for grades PreK-6, and ESOL for grades Pk-12. I have worked in education for 18 years.

I offer a meet and greet with parents first by phone or video chat to discuss their child's needs. Parents are encouraged to send me copies by email of any relevant data on student performance. This helps me come up with a plan for personalizing lessons for the learner. Within 3 days after the meet and greet, I will send the parents a goal outline of the plan I have developed for their child. Once the parent books the first session, then a 5-minute video call with the parents and child takes place 1 day prior to our first class together. This introductory call allows the child to meet me, and we can simply chat and get to know each other before our first session
The 20 minute meet and greet one-time fee is $25 per child. No refunds. This fee covers my time meeting with parents discussing the goals for the learner, reviewing your child's data, and preparing a personalized outline plan for success! If the learner enrolls with me, $25 is credited toward the first 60-minute paid session.
