About Marion

Hello! My name is Marion Singleton and I am a K-12 Instructional Technology Specialist for Rochester Academy Charter School District.

As an educator, I have eight years of professional teaching experience as a New York State certified Special Education Teacher. During my eight years of teaching, I taught students from Pre-K - 12th grade in all subject areas. Along with this, I have specifically tutored with Orleans/Niagara BOCES as a Home Hospital Teacher, where I worked with students who were in need of part-time tutoring while at home, the hospital, or awaiting program placement.

I am NYS certified in Early Childhood Birth-2, as well as Students with Disabilities B-2 and 1-6. have specific experience teaching math to students in Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 5th grade. I am able to get to the child's level to understand what they like, what they are good at, and then use these pieces of information to tailor my instruction to improve their deficits.

I am NYS certified in English Language Arts Education 7-12. In addition, my professional teaching experience includes LETRS training on phonological awareness - phonemes, onset-rime, shyme, syllables, phonics, etc. As a Special Education Teacher, I taught students with delays in the areas of reading, writing, vocabulary, comprehension, along with many others, and I am well-equipped with the strategies and skills necessary to teach reading and English.

I am NYS certified to teach Students with Disabilities across all levels: B-2, 1-6, and 7-12. I have eight years experience as a Special Education Teacher, working with students with learning disabilities in the areas of reading, writing, math; auditory processing delays; cognitive delays; short-term and long-term memory deficits; autism; intellectual disabilities; ADHD; executive functioning disorders, and many more. Tutoring is fun for me because it allows me to connect with individual students and focus all of my attention on their specific strengths and needs. I always go above and beyond for my students in order to help them accomplish their goals, and I understand how important it is to celebrate all successes, large or small.
