About Lisa

I have been tutoring and teaching students since 1987, at every level from preschool to college. I hold a PhD from Northwestern University. My experience includes 15 years of professional employment in K-12 gifted education, 13 years of tutoring my own children as a homeschooling parent, and many years of tutoring and teaching college students. I have experience and lots of empathy in working with students with LD, dysgraphia, and ADHD. I am still homeschooling my younger children, currently in middle sand high school.

I love working one-on-one with students to help them reach their full potential. Individualizing the educational experience to match the student's needs and learning preferences is the most rewarding part of my job.

About the lesson

I offer a free 15-minute introductory consultation to make sure tutoring with me seems like a good fit. For students below college age, I like to hear from both the parent and the student In every case, I ask what the client's tutoring goals are. What kind of help do you need? How do you learn best? What is your timeline? What has helped or not helped you in the past?

Working with Lisa has been a true blessing! I am one of her students and enjoy her abilities to make learning fun and successful. Lisa is so patient, explains new material and concepts in a way I understand and remember it, and even brings fun into the lessons by useful yet playful activities; something I do not get much of anymore in high school. I love her willingness and enthusiasm in helping me learn and grow in my education, helping me stay excited and positive about the topic I am learning. With Lisa, frustration is an easy emotion to overcome as triumph takes over. She never pushes me past my comfort or ability, yet challenges me enough to progress onward; in a pace that works for me. I highly recommend this tutor.

Lisa has been tutoring my daughter for some time now. We love Lisa's very personal, warm and understanding approach as well as her ability to keenly assess her student's needs and strengths.
Lisa has been able to help my daughter with comprehending difficult concepts and tasks. My daughter has greatly advanced in learning a new language through fun games and activities, enjoying the process of acquiring a new language. Lisa's patient repetition, playful, yet direct guidance and her ability to communicate clearly and respectfully has become the reason my daughter looks forward to the sessions with Lisa.
I very highly recommend this teacher to anyone interested in greater learning for themselves or their children.
