About Camy
I have been teaching high school English for 5 years. I specifically have loved giving students all the tips and tricks to pass the English I and English II STAAR. If you struggle with the reading, composition, editing sections, or all of the above, I can help you how to pass the STAAR!
I have been an English teacher for 5 years. I also teach yearbook and newspaper. My entire day is writing!
I have been and English teacher for 5 years. I have also done additional STAAR tutoring after-school and during summers. I know this test!

If you have them, bring in past STAAR results. We'll review them together and see where we need to focus.
We'll then go through a few practice tests and learn how to elimate answers and how to find the right answer! We'll also review the composition structures for either expository (English I) or persuasive (English II).
We'll also break down how each section is scored.
I have worked with ELL students, students with dyslexia (although I am not a specialist), and students that just struggle with reading and writing!
Look for a teacher that has worked with lots of different types of students.
I have two "proud teacher" moments that immediately come to mind.
One was an ELL 9th grader. The STAAR can be really tricky to ELLs. When I told him he passed, we both got emotional. It was so exciting.
Another is a senior I taught. He has taken the English I STAAR every year and still had not passed. He did a two hour tutoring session with him where we went through all the tips and tricks and he finally passed! We no longer had to worry about whether or not he would graduate! He said the best tip I gave him was how to choose the right answer in multiple choice questions.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Consider your goals. What kind of a score are you aiming to make?
Consider your strengths and weaknesses. What are you already good at and where can you improve?
