About Cynthia
Hello! My name is Cynthia. English has been my favorite subject since high school and that was when I first discovered that I have a natural talent for writing and found that learning the English subject came easily for me. It was during that time that I was able to craft essays that blew my teachers away as it exeeded the expectations of a mere sophomore. And when I entered college, my love for English grew through reading books and even through the much dreaded college essays that every student must face at some point during the learning process. While it can seem tedious, essay writing never daunted me the way it might to many incoming high school and college students. In addition to the required reading, writing, and composition English courses, which has allowed me to further hone the craft of writing, I also took a multitude of English literature courses, such as Shakespeare, mythology, and women in literature, which gave me insight into analyzing and breaking down the structure of a story.
I am currently a college student with a proficient grasp of the English language, composition, and literature. I have an AA degree in English and my goals are to receive a BA, and then an MA degree in English and to become a teacher. I would love nothing more than to help others along the way and to imbue a better understanding of the various aspects of English, which include: Reading, writing, essay composition, grammar, spelling, and literature analyses. I am not just a mere college student who takes English for the sole purpose of fulfilling a course requirement, but rather I live and breathe English, not just as an everyday native speech, but as something that can be constructed, moulded, and analyzed. I don't have any formal experience in tutoring, but I have helped schoolmates and friends in their English endeavors. For example, one friend went on to pass his GED test as he was having trouble with the essay writing portion of the test. I was able to help him by breaking down the elements of a good essay. He applied my techniques to his own essay writing and passed the test. For any one struggling in their English classes, I would be happy to help. I believe that this would be a great learning experience for the both of us as French moralist and essayist Joseph Joubert once said "to teach is to learn twice."
