About Avi
The way we teasch the test is trategy-based, for students who dont' care to revisit high school math. There are hidden patterns and strategies embedded within the exam, and that's what we teach, rather than a rehash of old high school algebra that most people don't care to revisit.
WHY I TEACH:
Tutoring is not just a job to me — it is my passion. I connect and relate with each of my students, instill confidence in them, and teach them the skills to succeed. I am often the first person my students text when they receive their scores and admissions letters.
I also know that conquering the psychological barriers standardized tests impose is often equivalent to, if not harder than, mastering the subject matter. Like many of my students, I was a very anxious test-taker, and I help my students work through these anxieties so that they can show their true potential on test day.
YOUR RATE IS TOO HIGH AVI!
I only bill for time spent in sessions or editing essays. I do not bill for the many hours I spend outside of session, offering email support, clarifying solutions to questions via email, creating lesson plans, assessing practice tests in advance of our sessions in order to maximize our time together and raise overal scores.
When I work with students, I create individualized curricula, track their progress and strengths/weaknesses, provide the best study materials and resources, create study schedules and timetables for testing and retesting, work on pacing and test strategy, and so much more. I even code customize the official guide materials by question type in order to design quizzes that reflect problem areas and difficulty levels.
I optimize time spent both in and out of sessions, so that my students see the best results in the shortest amount of time. I commit to tutoring full-time, only work with a select number of students at once, and am available round the clock to provide the best support out there for my students.
WHO ARE YOU??
I graduated from the Berkeley Haas School of Business in the top 5% of my class. I have been a professional academic and test prep tutor for the past decade, both privately and through a top test prep company, where I was the lead faculty trainer and wrote many of their books due to my high ratings with students. I was also teacher of the year at Kaplan Test Prep for 2012. I have worked with thousands of students from all over the world (both live and online) for the GMAT/GRE. I am a specialist in those tests, and do not bill myself as an all-subjects tutor. Specialist means one hour with me is the equivalent of 5-7 hours with an amateur GMAT/GRE tutor who also does SAT/ACT/cooking classes/tax preparation services. My rate refelcts the type fo results you can expect from working with me.
I have two young children so I only take on a select few admissions consulting clients--only those who are targeting Top 10 MBA programs.
2018 Results:
1. GMAT Student: 490 to 630 (Four total sessions)
2. GMAT Student: 650 to 730 (six sessions)
3. GMAT / Business School Application Student: 550 to 680, admitted to her two top choice top ten B schools (one with a 65k scholarship)
4. GRE Student: 290 to 312 (hired me for admissions consluting, accepted to McCombs with $40K scholarship
5. Helped one student with a low GPA and GMAT score gain admittance to his dream business school (top 10 ranking). His acceptance letter specified that his essays were the defining factor in his admission.
3. Helped international student craft personal essay that got her accepted to Columbia School of Business
