About Devin
Devin Volta has always had a passion for music ever since he was very young. He is extremely interested in every aspect of writing, creating, and learning new music. This passion led him to go to College to pursue his dream of becoming a music teacher. Devin acquired his Associates Degree in Classical Studies with Honors at Grossmont College in Spring of 2016. He had the privilege to study under Professor Fred Benedetti, who was a student of the great 20th Century Classical Guitarist, Andres' Segovia. Devin has also studied under Ian Owens (Music Theory, Folk, & Pop guitar), Derek Cannon (Jazz), Robert Wetzel (Classical Guitar), Jason Vieaux (Classical Guitar), Keith Wyatt (Electric Blues Guitar), and Paul Gilbert (Rock Guitar).
Devin has enjoyed teaching many genres of guitar over the past 9+ years including: Classical Guitar (Baroque, Renaissance, Classical, and Romantic), Electric Guitar (Jazz, Blues, and Rock), Acoustic Steel String (Folk, Rock, and Blues), and Music Theory (Music fundamentals such as reading, writing music notation, ear training, along with rhythm, harmony, and melody overview) in order to apply the concepts to real life performance situations. Devin teaches all ages.
Associates degree in Classical Studies. Over 15 years of experience in the music industry.

I like to start with the fundamentals of music then begin to build on technique through learning repetoire of my students choice. I find that helps to keep my students engaged and motivitated to continue to want to progress.
