About Ron
We all have something to share with the world. My "something" is providing high quality, fun and personal kayaking instruction and tours.
As an adventure guide (scuba, snorkeling, flying, hiking, camping and kyaking) for the past 36 years, I have learned that safety is the most important thing to be able to have fun. If you make sure that you and your guests are safe, than it is possible to enhane the "Fun factor".
I believe that the only silly question is the one you keep to yourself. It is a good day when you learn something.
I enjoy helping other develope the kayaking skills necessary to learn about and relate to nature from the cockpit of a slow moving kayak.
I would rather talk to people face to face than on the phone. Sure, I always bring a phone along for safety, but it is turned off until needed.
Birds, moving water and laughter are my favorite sounds.
I started as a YMCA summer camp counselor and then progressed to rafting and teaching camping and navigation skills in the High Sierras.
My first teaching experience was in as a camp counselor in high school. From there I was a rafting guide and then a PADI Master Scuba Instructor after college. I have taught sailing, wilderness trekking, flying beer brewing and kayaking. My first teaching experience was in as a camp counselor in high school. I have taught sailing, swimming, snorkeling, water skiing, wind surfing, lifesaving, first aid, CPR, wilderness trekking, flying, beer brewing and kayaking. Currently, I mostly train kayak guides.

The best way to train someone is to make them feel comfortable and engaged. I like to find out as much as possible about each persons expectations and experiences. Once we get to know each other, I can provide instruction and guidance they will understand and feel comfortable with. Some people catch on very quickly and others prefer a more leisurely pace. It is always all about the student.
I have trained every possible type of person in some aspect or another. If there is a genuine desire, then there is a way to help someone learn a particle skill. I have certified a paraplegic in scuba; trained and guided blind people in snorkeling; kids in wilderness exploration and every age possible in flying and boating.
Ask them some questions and see if your personalities will mesh.
This morning my wife of 33 years looked at me, smilled and told me that I am a goofball. Her goofball actually.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Real learning takes place when there is a comfortable and trusting relationship between a student and instructor. Students need to contemplate their real motivations so they can relate it to a perspective instructor and simply go from there. Make sure that you will be safe and guided in a thorough and systematic manner.

Details
I do not have standard pricing for anything except Kayak 101. For $ 75.00 I will provide all equipment and two hours of beginner instruction in a beautiful location. Many people like to join me on a "teach and trek". This is where we hone basic paddling skills while paddling on a slow moving river or estuary. The pricing for this depends on where we are exploring and how much equipment and logistics I need to provide. Some folks only want instruction in reading charts and navigation. The price for this depends on how many are in the class. I am not just about making a dollar. It is all about having fun and enjoying nature with like-minded people.
