About Natalie

I have been tutoring for over 7 years, helping students to not only improve their grades, but their study skills. When a student at the University of Utah, I was employed through the university to teach calculus 1,2,3, college algebra, and physics. Calculus tutoring, in particular, was my speciality and my students were very pleased with my ability to break up complex subjects into understandable concepts.

I have studied test prep strategies extensively over the years and become an expert standardized test taker and test prep tutor. As someone who successfully was able to raise my ACT score by 9 points and score near perfect, and perfect scores on all four categories, I can attest that success on the ACT is a matter of incorporated the right strategies to obtain your target score.

I previously was employed as a teacher through Sylvan Learning Center and received certification. I taught students in the age range of k-12. I have also taught many students in the k-12 as well as preschool age with much success.

I am very adaptable as a teacher and my methodology is based off of cognitive psychology pioneered by Mark A. McDaniel and Peter C. Brown, which has reaped great results with my students.

I was at the 'top of the class' in my Algebra 2 class in high school. My teacher had me start helping to explain how to do the homework to other students taking the class and discovered my love for teaching.

About the lesson

I like to schedule a phone call with any potential clients to discuss the student's goals among other things. During this time we assess if I we would be a good fit to work together.

Set up a trial with the teacher before committing. Ask questions about the teacher/tutor's methodology and past success rate with students who are in a similar situation as you. Ask the teacher what they can do to help you meet your goals.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
How much time and effort they are willing to put in to reach their goal as well as how much time and effort is needed to reach the goal.

What have been my stumbling blocks and how do I address them?

Perfect! Natalie is fantastic! She always was so helpful in helping me understand the math. I didn’t have too good of a base knowledge of algebra and so when I was taking calculus is made it twice as hard. She broke down the complex math and worked through at the level I was at. She cares and understands her students and works exceptionally hard to make sure they succeed. If you need a tutor she’s the one you need!

Perfect! Our experience w/ Natalie was a great one. She was flexible, & kind, my daughter felt totally comfortable working w/ her. She made the information clear & was able to hold her attention, & interest both through Zoom & in person. Which is often difficult. We would definitely recommend her.

Perfect! Natalie is so personable and really explains things clearly. She helped my daughter not only understand the math concepts, but also helped her build her confidence. She is an amazing tutor. Great with children and such a huge help. She saved us this past year. We will use her again and again and I would recommend her to everyone in need of tutoring.

Perfect! Natalie was very knowledgeable and patient. I have been out of school for several years and doing math was never a strong subject for me. She spent a lot of her personal time outside of our tutoring time to understand some of the concepts that I was studying. She was able to provide me with some of the information that my college professor didn't teach that helped me understanding the concepts better.

Perfect! Natalie has been brilliant! I started taking lessons with her in order to take an overwhelming pre-calculus diagnostic test at BYU after not taking any maths for 10 years. She managed to structure our meetings perfectly, and provided the right material and tutoring to help me pass the test. I would highly recommend her to anyone. Thanks, Natalie!

Natalie was amazing, she was able to work around my very odd schedule. Everytime there was a difficult problem we could not figure out together she would take time outside of our meetings to review the topic again and start the next meeting with a brief review and solution to any unanswered questions. Truly amazing and committed to my success!

My son was having a hard time earlier this year with AP Calculus. the pandemic probably played a role but he was failing, frustrated and didn't know what to do. It was not a subject I could help him with. I found Natalie with Top Student Tutoring. Natalie was very competent, reliable, well prepared, capable, encouraging, patient and kind when helping my son with AP Calculus. He liked how she was able to explain things in multiple ways until he understood it and never seemed impatient. I was just hoping my son would pass so I was very pleased and impressed, that with Natalie's help, my son has improved his grade from an F to an A! Natalie has the computer skills and equipment to tutor effectively remotely so she can help you no matter where you live.
