About Sandra
As the founder of Two-Steps Ahead Tutoring, my goal is to elevate students’ understanding of mathematics through individualized instruction. With a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Statistics and over eight years of experience working with students of varying skill levels, I have developed a deep passion for helping students achieve their highest potential. My background in mathematics, coupled with my ability to adapt to each student’s unique learning pace, allows me to bring a meaningful and effective approach to education.
I have had the privilege of tutoring students from 1st grade through college calculus, including those with learning disabilities, as well as providing support in other subjects up to 8th grade and preparing students for ACT/SAT exams. My teaching philosophy is centered around patience and adaptability. By creating a one-on-one environment where students feel confident to share their challenges and questions, I strive to understand their perspectives and tailor my guidance accordingly. My ultimate goal is to rebuild their confidence and empower them to move forward independently, pushing beyond their initial expectations and achieving success they once thought unattainable.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Statistics, which provides a strong theoretical foundation essential for my work in mathematics education. Over the past eight years, I have applied this knowledge extensively while tutoring students from 1st grade through college calculus, including those with learning disabilities and those preparing for ACT/SAT exams. My experience has been complemented by ongoing professional development in adaptive teaching methods, enabling me to tailor my approach to each student's unique needs and learning style. This combination of formal education and practical experience equips me to effectively support students in achieving their full potential in mathematics.

I have worked with a diverse range of students across various educational levels and needs. My experience includes tutoring students from 1st grade through college calculus, as well as in Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, and Calculus. I have supported students with varying skill levels and learning needs, including those with learning disabilities and those preparing for standardized tests such as the ACT and SAT. Perfect! I had spent hours and days on end searching for the perfect Tudor for my daughter for Geometry. I felt that she needed face to face, and that zoom was not going to work. I had spoken to several people about zoom and was not convinced or comfortable. Then Sandra came along. I had one conversation with her and I was on board to try zoom if my daughter was ok with it, but then it was also making her father ok with it. We needed a Tudor like yesterday. My daughter was on board and Sandra met with her that night and then she wanted to meet with her again the next night. Sandra worked her into her schedule. So we got her dad on board. Sandra has made such a difference in my daughter’s confidence in Geometry today. My 16 year old takes the lead. While I didn’t think zoom was the way to go my daughter could not be happier with her. My 16 year old takes the lead in scheduling her own sessions. She just lets us know when they are and what time. We could not be happier with our choice. We have already recommended Sandra to friends who are using her or are going to use her coming up and are just as happy.

Sandra genuinely cared about my daughter and her success in her Algebra 2 class. She followed up weekly and after tests. My daughter felt good when working with Sandra. Sandra provided a safe environment to work on things that my daughter didn't understand without making her feel embarrassed. My daughter is beginning to like Math again and actually understand it. I can see her confidence grow with each session. I'm very happy with the work and progress my daughter is making while working with Sandra at Two Steps Ahead Tutoring.
